I've noticed some grinding noise when pulling away under hard acceleration. The top engine mount is fine. I'm told that I might need to change the firewall mount. Has anyone done this and is it likely that a keen weekend fiddler would be able to do? Vehicle is an 850R 96 with 160K. If anyone can point me in the direction of some guides then it would be appreciated. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to cover it.

With the bonnet up, try rocking the engine back/fore. It could be one of the mounts underneath. You're not far away from me (Newport), so could give a hand diagnosing/replacing.
Did you sort this? My engine rocks from left to right but is rock solid forwards and backwards. Would like to know what fixed your problem and if you changed the firewall one,how did you get the nut off and how did you get to it?. Did you suffer with vibration at pull off too?
